Just two days after the Llano County Sheriff’s Office posted on social media the modern-day equivalent of a “WANTED” poster, a Marble Falls man accused of murder turned himself in at the jail.
As of Tuesday, Robert Lee Williams, 30, was being held in the Llano County Jail in lieu of bonds totaling $500,000, including both felony and misdemeanor charges, according to the Llano County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office posted on Sept. 24 that police were searching for Williams, who had a warrant for his arrest on felony charges of murder, evading arrest causing death and evading arrest with a vehicle.
By Sept. 26, Williams was in custody.
An official with the Llano County Sheriff’s Office said that the social media post was helpful in making the arrest.
“We’d spent that Saturday looking for him, following leads and going to some of his family members’ houses,” said Chief Deputy Brad Evans, on Tuesday. “I think by Sunday he was feeling the pressure and turned himself in.”
He is accused of causing the death of Farren Michelle Hawkins, 34, of Cottonwood Shores after wrecking his motorcycle during a high-speed police chase at around 8:30 p.m. on July 24.
Hawkins, the passenger on the motorcycle, died from her injuries less than a week later, on July 28.
The accident occurred on RM 2900 in Kingsland following a police chase that began in Marble Falls and included multiple law enforcement agencies, according to the Llano County Sheriff’s Office, previously.
Police began looking for Williams following his indictment by a grand jury.
