Sights that Make You Wonder

Although still legible, the sign had begun to fade and was repainted in 2002 in hopes of preserving it for another 100 years or so. Seen with the naked eye from a long distance on the nearest highway, the sign appears to be black on white rock. It is actually a blue background with yellow lettering. ADVERTISING, THE OLD-FASHIONED WAY As a very young kid, I remember seeing what are now the iconic Burma Shave signs alongside some of the roads our family travelled.  In the days before billboards, regulations and all sorts of other restrictions, folks drummed-up business in a wide variety of ways.
