Artists and those curious about art are invited to the June 3rd meeting of Die Kϋnstler von Fredericksburg beginning at 6:30 pm.
Continuing the guild’s mission of education, 3 members will share their expertise, discoveries, and experience.
Kristine Ashman, who has a background in licensing art, will speak about creative ways to use and market your work. Her displays at local events always draw attention and invite the browser to come closer to explore every item.
Barbara Mauldin and Louise Murphy will demonstrate a technique of seeing composition and using color called Asymmetrical Subdivision, or the magic grid, learned from a workshop with Kevin Macphearson. This method solves the problem of static or predictable art and brings a freshness to your work. First developed by the famed illustrator, Andrew Loomis, it trains you to see color almost like a mosaic adding a dynamic quality to any painting.
Because painting from real life is widely touted as the fastest way to grow as an artist, Mauldin will also give a presentation on the supplies and equipment that make plein air painting easy, enjoyable, and accessible to everyone.
We will give time for questions.
Die Kϋnstler’s meetings are free with an emphasis on education for artists. Guests are always welcome. The room opens at 6 PM; activities begin promptly at 6:30, followed by a brief business meeting.
We meet at the Gillespie County Historical Society, on 312 W. San Antonio Street, Fredericksburg. Follow the sidewalk on the right side of the building to the fellowship hall.
