Labor Day weekend in the True Heart of Texas means it’s time for the 47th Annual World Championship BBQ Goat Cookoff scheduled for Friday, September 3rd through Sunday, September 5th in Richards Park along the banks of Brady Creek. Brady National Bank, Mac’s BBQ and Catering are proud to bring you the 2021 event with a weekend full of food, fun and festivities for the entire family to enjoy.
The Goat Cookoff is a unique tradition that started in Brady, the county seat of McCulloch County, in 1974 as a fundraiser for the Jaycees with 16 cooking teams. We now boast 206 cook teams with a 90+ team waiting list. Close to 13,000 attendees come from all over Texas and beyond. Over 5,700 pounds of goat are cooked each year in Brady, Texas, at Richard’s Park on Labor Day Weekend.
Not only is this the biggest and longest running cook off of its kind, but it’s also fun for the whole family, with a Texas beer and wine tasting, arts & crafts fair, children’s games and activities, axe throwing, a Horseshoe & Washer pitching tournament, a free welcome dance on Friday night featuring Cooper Wade, and live music all day Saturday and Sunday.
This year’s entertainment lineup includes Shane Smith and the Saints, Chris Colston, and Cooper Wade on Saturday night, and Grammy Award Winners Los Texmaniacs with Rick Trevino and two time Tejano Music Award winner Anjelique on Sunday. It’s a good times for all ages!
