Let it, Snow!

If you missed out on a white Christmas and want to experience a day of snow, plan a visit to the Science Mill in Johnson City. On January 15th, the museum will transform into a winter wonderland with 30 tons of real snow. Visitors can partake in several winter-themed activities throughout the science park including a snowball slingshot, a snowman laboratory, and chainsaw ice sculpting. Snow Day activities run from 10 am – 2 pm. Take a break from the snow and venture into the 17,000 square foot historic feed mill and silos turned science museum and immerse yourself in a world of imaginative and interactive exhibits. The Science Mill is open from 10 am – 4 pm.

After a day of playing in the snow, venture out into downtown Johnson City and experience many of the eclectic art galleries, shops, restaurants, and historic sites that border the iconic town square. Travel back to the 1860s with a visit to the LBJ National Park Johnson Settlement and see what a cattle operation from the Chisholm Trail days was like. As you walk along the self-guided nature trail, you can see the original dogtrot cabin, barns, and windmill that President LBJ’s grandfather and great uncle used in their cattle business.

Turn your day trip into a weekend adventure by staying in one of the many rustic homes, quaint cabins, or luxury yurts that are available for rental in the area.
