Patriot Day Picnic Honoring Veterans and First Responders
The American Legion Post 974 will honor the service and sacrifices of Veterans and First Responders on Saturday, Sept 12th with a PATRIOT DAY PICNIC at the Hill Country Community Foundation Building, 402 E. Jackson in Burnet. Active and retired personnel of the military, Police Departments. Fire Departments and Emergency Medical Services and their families will be treated to a meal of grilled bratwurst/sausage, shrimp and veggies on a stick, side dishes and tea, water and lemonade at no cost. All others will be asked to pay $10 for the meal. Diners are permitted to bring other refreshments if they desire. The cornhole competition will start at 10 am and conclude with the serving of the food at 12 noon. There are cash prizes for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place cornhole winners. A Cobbler Bake-Off will bring desserts to the table with the winner receiving a $50 cash prize. Although Patriot Day is a solemn occasion, there should be plenty of laughter and comradeship at the picnic. The public is invited to join us !
