Get Ready for Wurstfest!

October is Wurstfest time of year. If you’re looking for authentic German fare, look no further than the historic Germnan Village at the New Braunfels Conservation Society, 1300 Church Hill Drive in New Braunfels.

The annual Kaffee Haus, will be held November 5th through 9th in the 1865 General Store at the historic village. From 10am till 2pm, they will be serving their famous German potato soup; authentic German wurst; Koch Kaese and their famous pimiento cheese, chicken and ham sandwiches. For dessert choose from homemade cookies, a piece of cake or a slice of pie. To place a to-go order, call 830-832-9699.

You can also enjoy their “Kindermasken Costumes” exhibit November 2nd through November 11th.  The Kindermaskenball, commonly shortened to kindermasken has been part of New Braunfels history since the founding of the town. This custom was brought to New Braunfels to celebrate the change of seasons. Costumed children gathered and frolicked through the streets accompanied by a brass band ending at Saengerhalle.

The Kindermasken Costumes exhibit at New Braunfels Conservation Society’s Old Town at Conservation Plaza, will feature many of the costumes from the historic Kindermasken Parade, dating back to the mid 1900s.

Tour the quaint buildings in Conservation Plaza, including the Lindheimer House and the Buckhorn Barbershop. Tours will be held Tuesday thru Sunday 9:30am till 2pm. The plaza is closed on Mondays.
