Oakley Appeals Commission Order
Burnet County Judge James Oakley has appealed the State Commission on Judicial Conduct's decision to sanction him for appearing in campaign material in support of a candidate for a directorship on the Pedernales Electric Cooperative Board Directors in 2018. Oakley said Canon 2B of the Texas Code of Judicial Conduct, the basis of the Commission's April 24, 2019 admonition against him, is too vague to be enforceable and violates a person's constitutional right of free speech.
