One can’t talk about the origins of Lights Spectacular without thanking Norma Honeycutt, Rosie Danz, and Rhonda Stell. Danz was the 1990 JC Chamber President at the time and said, “Norma Honeycutt made this possible, and we’re so blessed she joined our community.”
Honeycutt was a newcomer and Garden Club President in 1990.
JCISD Trustees held a Special Meeting on Monday, September 27th at 5:00 pm in the Administration Building. President Matt McKennis called the meeting to order, and a quorum was established. There were no public comments.
Trustees discussed the purchase of a school bus, and voted 6-0 to approve the purchase in the amount of $105,300 for a new 72 passenger bus.

More than 1,000 Blanco County residents have contracted COVID-19 since the pandemic began, but a county health official told the News on Monday that the recent surge is starting to stabilize.
“As of Monday, 1,265 people in our county have contracted COVID-19, which is more than 10 percent of our population,” said Blanco County EMS Chief Ben Oakley, who is the county’s health authority.
Blanco County residents could see significant changes to its legislative districts if preliminary redistricting plans are accepted.

On Sunday, the rebuilt sign welcoming visitors to Blanco County and proclaiming it the home of President Lyndon B. Johnson was installed at the intersection of RR165 and RR2325.
On hand at the installation on Sunday were Bernard Mollberg, local coordinator and facilitator of the project; Art Brooks, master carpenter; and Adrian Landon Brooks, the muralist who painted the sign.
“We have been delighted with the local support of this project,” Mollberg said.
The Blanco County Commissioners breezed through its light agenda in approximately 15 minutes Tuesday morning.
The commissioners approved an agreement to borrow $541,942 from Government Capital Corporation to purchase equipment and various services. The agreement sets the interest rate at 2.897 percent, and payments of $280,677.17 will be made in June 2022 and June 2023.

Approval of budgets and tax rate
Budgets for 2021-2022 were reviewed, discussed, and approved. O’Bannon reported that the JCVFD Budget is $189,750, and the budget for RMVFD is $81,300.
