City tax rate gets slight bump on first reading

Llano residents are likely to see a slight bump in property taxes in the coming year. The city council voted 4-1 in a first reading at its Sept. 6 meeting to increase the tax rate about 5 percent, from 0.39633 to 0.416. Finance director Lynda Kuder said the increase will mean the average homestead will see an increase of about $14 in taxes in the next fiscal year. The council originally set the proposed tax rate at 0.43 in August.
