After spending most of the spring hunkered down to slow the spread of the Coronavirus, summertime has been creeping upon us. Recent rains have brought new life to trees and plants, and the landscape throughout the Texas Hill Country is benefiting.

The first weekend of April is booked solid in Llano with the 16th Annual Chuck Wagon Cook-Off and the 43rd Llano Fiddle Festival. On Friday morning, April 3, students from Llano Elementary, Packsaddle, and Llano Christian Academy will make their yearly trip to Badu Park to learn about life in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

March 13-16 Grenwelge Park in Llano will be filled with imaginative and artistic people of all ages, gathered together to celebrate LEAF (Llano Earth Art Festival). This year marks the sixth annual festival where approximately 30 artists will be flown in from all over the world to spend the weekend in Llano.
LEAF is becoming popular worldwide because it is the proud home of the World Rock Stacking Championship.

Castell Chili Cook-Off
On Saturday, February 15, Castell General Store is having their Annual Chili Cook-Off. Approximately 20 teams, some local, but many travel across Texas just to participate in the friendly yet fierce competition. You don’t have to be a cook or judge to partake in the savory chili tasting—cooks are generous when handing out samples.

Being an admirer of Christmas lights, I am making it a personal mission this December to see all of the displays that the Texas Hill Country has to offer, Llano’s Starry Starry Nights being at the top of my list. Debuting the day after Thanksgiving, Llano gets into the holiday spirit each year by displaying a trail of lights along the Llano River in Badu Park.
