Johnson City has become quite the place to be on the weekends! Great restaurants, live music, breweries, and more are drawing people to the boyhood home of the late President Lyndon B Johnson.
Now that things have returned somewhat to normal, visitors are returning to this quaint little community, and they are exploring all of the wonderful shops and storefronts that Johnson City has to offer.
One of the newest is Old Annex Market. This vendor’s market is the gift seeker’s dream–the best place to get a one-of-a-kind rodeo outfit, home to artisan jewelry, wonderful original art, and delicious coffees and cocoas.
There is literally something for everyone on your list: cute bachelorette trinkets, hand-tooled leather belts and wallets, refurbished and refinished furniture, and handcrafted cedar furniture and décor.
Luckily for shoppers, it is located all in one place – the recently renovated former Blanco County annex, located just a block off the square east on Pecan.
Bart and Debbie Burkhard envisioned a place where small business owners could set up shop in this bustling town, and so they set out renovating, turning the maze of old outdated offices and metal barn into something that allows small town vendors a store front without the big investment.
In addition, the couple also provides space for the county’s premiere internet provider, Hill Country Wireless, as well as local hair salon M Style Salon, boutique Pocket Change, and Agave Custom Homes.
They have added a deck to the east side of the barn, where they host live music and provide seating for those who are needing a break from sightseeing and shopping!
Vendors located in Old Annex Market include: Rafter B, Sassy B’s, Embellish Boutique, MC Clothing, EMG Jewelry, Gift Solutions, The Normandy House, Robin’s Closet, Then & Now, Wild Timber Designs, FS Ranch Designs and Honey and Pop Shop. A final booth, Hye Time houses several small vendors, including Maricella Garcia Designs, Taste of Country, Thin Line Goods and Silver Branch Jewelry.
The selection is refreshed often and new products are brought in weekly.
Old Annex Market is a great place for visitors and locals alike to come and shop.
