As has happened for the last 133 years, the famed St. Louis Day Celebration will again open the gates to visitors from all over the state. Dubbed decades ago by the Texas Tourist Agency as "The Homecoming for the State of Texas", the giant festival will again serve tons of barbecued beef, Alsatian style sausage, and food, drink, music, games and fun all day long for friends who make the trip each year to Castroville.

You have got to come to the Cowboy Capital of the World. Well known as a small Texas town with real Texas flare, Bandera’s history runs deep. Each year Bandera remembers its roots at the annual Labor Day weekend Event, Celebrate Bandera. Their claim to fame began in the late 1800’s.

The Annual Kendall County Fair is one of the oldest Fair’s in Texas. This year will mark the 110th annual fair which will be held on Labor Day Weekend, Sept 3 through 6th in Boerne, Texas at the Fairgrounds (1307 River Road). The McCulloch County courthouse square in Brady sports an actual World War 2 Howitzer cannon. I especially wanted to visit this artifact because as a boy I had assembled a plastic model of a Howitzer. Looking up from the cannon, right across the street I saw a store entitled "

Gems of the Hill Country, Lapidaries and Jewelers, is owned by husband and wife team Brad Hodges and B. Diane Eames, and is located in Ingram on Hwy 39, just west of Kerrville. Gems of the Hill Country is on the right, just as you enter the historic Old Ingram Loop, where a quaint collection of artisans' shops and boutiques line the street. Their shop is full of jewelry set with sparkling gems, most of them the beautiful Mason county topaz.
