Treats Deployed to Troops
Children at the First United Methodist Church packed “Treats for Troops” boxes to send to Ft Hood soldiers stationed overseas, and mailed them in time to be received by the Fourth of July. Fifteen boxes of snacks, Texas sauces and other treats went into the mail this week to soldiers from Ft Hood stationed overseas. The boxes were packed by the children at the First United Methodist Church, who added hand-made thank-you cards and bags of trail mix, also bearing thank-you messages. “They see pictures of fighting on television,” said Ronnie Birck, the church’s education director, “so they know there’s something going on somewhere, even if they don’t fully understand it.
