County Judge Brett Bray called the meeting to order Tuesday, May 28, 2019 in the courthouse. Commissioners Tommy Weir, Emil Uecker, Chris Liesmann and Paul Granberg were present.
After reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, the judge asked the commissioners if they would mind moving the agenda items order around. The commissioners agreed. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
Members of the family of James Ross Leonard (Class of 1998) were on hand as coaches and students from JCISD dedicated a plaque in his honor in the LBJ High School gym where he spent countless Tuesday and Friday nights watching his beloved Lady Eagles. Leonard, who passed away April 9th, scored the go-ahead basket for the 1947 Johnson City Eagles in the Class B State Basketball Championship Game and went on to a successful coaching career in girls’ basketball and track.

After a year of art walks, studio visits, and partnerships alongside fellow artists in historic downtown Johnson City, Catherine Massaro will be relocating her studio and gallery to Fredericksburg.
Previously, Massaro’s studio and gallery was located inside ECHO, across the street from where she had expanded into the white building at 106 E Main St.

Members of the 2019 Eagle Football team are prepping for the upcoming season with a summer of 7- on-7. The JC team won three games and lost one in the Falls City State Qualifying Tournament – “SQT” in 7-on-7 lingo – this past Friday. The Eagles rattled off the three wins with a 32-6 trouncing of Woodsboro, 13-7 decision over Runge and a 26-12 semifinal victory over Ganado.
Christ Lutheran Church will host their family-style Vacation Bible School June 10th – 14th from 9:30am to 11:30am. All ages, from babies to adults are invited to attend. Dripping Springs— Hill Country Youth Orchestras, in partnership with the Arts Alliance of Central Texas, will host auditions at Dripping Springs High School on Thursday, June 6, 2019. Auditions are open to any string player with at least one-year of experience. Students should prepare one solo piece or excerpt of their choosing (minimum one-minute in length) and at least one scale (two octaves preferred).

MAMOU— Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou on Friday, May 24, 2019, for Dinny Ethan Hawkins, 75, who passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019 in Lafayette, LA.
Reverend Brian Johnston will conduct the funeral service.
Dinny Ethan Hawkins was born in Shreveport, LA on January 5, 1944 to his parents Ethan Amon Hawkins and Viola Christine Harty.
