Blanco County Commissioners held a Regular Meeting on June 11, 2019. All Commissioners were present.
After the roll call was taken and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited Judge Brett Bray shared a Proclamation declaring June 14 as “Flag Day” and June 9-15 as “Flag Week” in Blanco County. Commissioners went on to approve the Proclamation with motion from Commissioner Chris Liesmann and second from Commissioner Paul Granberg.

JCISD Trustees held a Regular Board Meeting on June 10, 2019. Board President Shelly Wenmohs called the meeting to order at 6 pm and all Trustees were present.
Motion to certify the School Board Election results of the general election on May 4, 2019 was given by Trustee Matt McKennis and seconded by Trustee Brit Odiorne.
It's wonderful to live in Johnson City, TX., a town that loves America and celebrates traditions such as Flag Day. The Daughters of the American Revolution prepare a special service every year commemorating the adoption of the flag of the United States by resolution of the Second Continental Congress, which was first held on June 14, 1777.
Approximately 75 adults and children gathered at LBJ High School the past Saturday evening to meet neighbors, rekindle relationships and enjoy a delicious potluck supper. Organizer Pepper Branch was “elated” when she saw the line of guests at the door before they opened at 4pm. “More tables had to be set up to accommodate all the delicious Hill Country cooking,” said Branch.
Guests were given color-coded nametags at the door and were seated according to their “neighborhood zone.
Recent Lyndon B. Johnson High School (LBJHS) graduate Aubrie Scott will be taking her ability and interest in the performing arts with her this fall as she joins the Goin’ Band from Raiderland at Texas Tech University. The band marches 450 members, performs at all Red Raider home football games and this fall will travel to Norman for Tech vs.
The boxes are in the mail, with candies, snacks, books, toilet articles, flip-flops, and a variety of other gifts that might be welcomed by Ft Hood soldiers stationed in the Middle East. They were packed by the children at the First United Methodist Church, something they do annually as their Treats for Troops program.
This year more than a dozen boxes went to members of a special operations unit in either Syria or Iraq (the mailing address is deliberately vague).

Ana Dominga Cruz Santiago, 87, of Johnson City, Texas passed surrounded by loved ones on the morning of Saturday, June 15th 2019. Ana was born May 12, 1932 in Jocorro, El Salvador to Octavio and Marcelina Miranda. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Ramon Cruz Santiago, parents, brother, Pedro Umanzor and grandson, Samuel Umanzor.
Tommy Lee Lewis 66 years of age passed from this life Friday June 14th 2019. Tommy was born May 23rd 1953 in Levelland Texas to Lee and Jo Lewis. He graduated from Morton High School in 1971 and attended Amarillo Bible College and South Plains College.
Tommy worked as a technician at American Cotton Growers for many years, he was a member of the First Baptist Church where he was active in the food bank ministry and a long time member of Noon Lions Club.

Burg’s Corner had its beginning in 1948 as the Gillespie County Fruit Growers Co-op. For decades it was the hub of the peach industry. Growers throughout the county brought their harvests in to be sized and shipped to markets.
The outdoor shed, which holds the grading and sorting equipment, was the original structure built in 1948.
