City of Johnson City City Council held a Special Meeting on July 9, 2019. Mayor Rhonda Stell called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm and Council Member Rosie Danz gave the invocation. After adjourning into Executive Session at 7:00 pm Council reconvened into Regular Session at 8:33 pm and approved action to terminate the current judicial term of the City of Johnson City Municipal Court Judge ending May 2019 with motion from Council Member Pat Dildine and second by Council Member Clayton Youn ...
Owners of Hill Country Wireless and Technology, David and Ginger McCullough, Johnson City are working to reach parts of the Hill Country previously having no or poor internet service. A new tower, which was delivered last week, is in preparation to be set up on the hill behind Cox Paving in Blanco to extend the company’s service area. The McCullough’s moved to Johnson City from the Texas Panhandle where they had a cattle ranch.
Rusty Weirich, along with his mother, Shirley Weirich, and his son, Reid Weirich from Johnson City traveled to All Star Village in Oneonta, New York to watch Reid play in a baseball tournament with Lonestar Baseball Club. Fifty teams from around the country played in the tournament the week of June first through the seventh. Reid had a great performance at the plate during the tournament.
Kyle, TX — The office of State Rep. Erin Zwiener will host district office hours in Johnson City the second Wednesday of every month at City Hall. Rep. Zwiener’s district office is located in Kyle, and in an effort to ensure all House District 45 residents have an opportunity to meet directly with her staff, Rep.
The 2019 Lady Eagle Volleyball team will face one of their toughest opponents in the new season with just a day-and-a-half of practice under their belts when they face their own Alumni at 6pm on Friday, August 2nd. The event will help to raise money for the Volleyball program with a $3 admission charged.

School officials have released athletic schedules for the fall sports seasons which indicate that Homecoming 2019 is set for Friday, September 27th. The Lady Eagles will face Florence in District 25-3A Freshmen, Junior Varsity and Varsity Volleyball at 4, 5 and 6pm. The Varsity Eagles will host Florence in a non-District Football match-up at 7:30pm; Johnson City competes in District 13-3A Division II in Football.

Enjoy a fun, interactive evening making seed balls with native wildflower and grass seeds. All supplies, including gloves, will be provided.

Madeleine Creed MacNeal Torres, beloved wife of Jorge Torres, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. By the time I was 12 years old I had earned Swimming and Life Saving merit badges in Boy Scouts and wore a Junior Life Guard patch on my swim trunks. I had taken swimming lessons at the old Deseret Gym that was located just a block away from Temple Square in Salt Lake City.
I cannot prove the existence of God. There. I said it. But let me be clear: I can point to evidence that suggests a Creator. With that said, I’ve given up trying to convince unbelievers that God exists for one main reason: They will never believe because they’ve made up their minds that there is no God.
Letter to the editor:
I read with horror of the conditions at the Border Patrol detention center in Clint, Texas. Children without beds, going hungry and unable to even wash their hands. Border Patrol agents report that children as young as 5 months are detained here, with no adult to care for them. How did these children come to be in such a place? The wait time to cross the border at an official point of entry can be months.
