With three days of practice and a one-set Alumni scrimmage under their belts the Varsity Lady Eagles rattled off five wins before falling to two 5A opponents on Saturday. JC opened the week at Harper and swept the host Lady Longhorns with wins at the Freshmen, Junior Varsity and Varsity (25-11, 25-11, 25-23) levels.
Horst Dieter Massingale was born September 20, 1953 and passed on August 2, 2019. Where to even begin? Horst was loved by family and many friends. He was one of a kind. A true biker, with a rough exterior and a heart of gold. He was born in Germany, he moved to America when he was 9 to live with his father’s family after his mother died from polio.

While attending college I had a roommate whose mother, Juanita Brooks, was an author of some renown. Her grandfather had been a missionary to the Indians of Utah Territory in the 1850’s. He suffered many hardships during his life but was firm in his religion. Mrs. Brooks remembered him with fondness:

On June 30th, our car was one of 100+ damaged by road conditions created by TXDOT on RR-1631, east of Fredericksburg. The situation defies description but I believe the problem was caused by a combination of equipment malfunction and gross incompetence.
As result of our car damage, I filed a claim with TXDOT and waited.
