By Rachel Lumpee A special meeting of the Blanco County Commissioners’ Court on Aug. 22, 2019 was called to order by Judge Brett Bray with all commissioners present. Judge Bray asked the commissioners to consider rescheduling the next public hearing because it was scheduled to take place on a state holiday, LBJ’s birthday.
At 9 a.m. the commissioners court was called to order by Judge Brett Bray with all four commissioners present. Emil Uecker motioned to approve the minutes from prior meetings and Tommy Weir seconded; it carried. Next, the line item transfers were discussed; there were three transfers requested and all by Weir. The first line item was requested for patching and seal costs.
STONEWALL—This year’s final “Movies Under the Stars” at Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park will take place on Saturday, September 7, with a special screening of “Apollo 11”. The Varsity Lady Eagles closed out the 2019 tournament season with three wins on Saturday at the Cornerstone Christian Warrior Classic in San Antonio to bring home the Consolation Championship from the tournament. JC struggled early in pool play Friday with a loss to a talented 6A New Braunfels team, but bounced back to beat 5A Uvalde 25-17, 25-15.
By Julie Storer The Johnson City Eagle Varsity and JV Football teams traveled to Marion on Thursday to take on the Class 3A-Division 1 Bulldogs in the final tune-up before kicking off the 2019 season.  The Varsity squad scored first on an option keep when Wyatt Tumlinson found the end zone from five yards out. The second JC score came on a Logan Ledger pass to Jakub Emerson for a 42-yard touchdown.
