One goal of the Community Resource Center (CRC) is to make it easier for Blanco County residents to take advantage of services offered by Texas agencies. Hill Country Mental Health Developmental Disabilities (MHDD) is one such agency. It offers mental health services for our neighbors who do not have insurance. “Some who are eligible to receive our services are not aware that we're here,” said Crystal Winn, clinic director.
For the final installment for Ghosts of Blanco, I saved the crown jewel, the Old Blanco Courthouse. They finished building the courthouse in 1886. It served as the Blanco County Courthouse until 1890. The Old Courthouse went through the hands of many owners. So besides being a courthouse, it has served as a school, newspaper plant, pool hall, offices, theater, skating rink, home of the Farmers Union, and a hospital. If those walls could talk…or perhaps they do.

Letter to the Editor
When my family first moved to Johnson City, I was excited every week when the Record Courier hit the shelves. I would make it a weekly ritual by going to the gas station and picking it up along with a good cup of coffee and then quietly reading it cover to cover.

I would like to clarify presumptions made by Lorraine Tingler, but first I would like to apologize for being too ambiguous in my first letter regarding the Zwiener Town Hall.  For clarification’s sake:  1.  Pastor Steve Sanchez is not my pastor and I did not pre-coordinate with Pastor Sanchez prior to the town hall to “stage” anything.  He asked me to record him when he spoke and I agreed to do so, just as I would have done for anyone.  For the record, I am un-apologetically pro-li ...

Dear Editor, I’m the pastor who spoke at Rep. Zweiner’s Townhall meeting. I’d like to correct inaccuracies from Ms. Tingler’s letter from last week. I asked: “Given the fact that Blanco County is 75% Conservative, what are your plans to try to bridge the gap regarding social issues we are concerned about, like our great desire to protect the unborn by not having them murdered in their mother’s womb, and our eagerness to keep Texas state-income tax free.” Ms.

In 2006, Sculpture on Main was created through a collaboration of downtown merchant, Russel Buster, and local sculptor, Dan Pogue, in Marble Falls. Though many changes have been made since, the commitment for local residents to see and enjoy the beauty it provides to downtown remains. “The Highland Lakes Creative Arts organization acquired both Sculpture on Main and Paint the Town from the Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce in 2014.
