Dear Editor, I am writing to express my fear of Congress cutting Social Security benefits. Taxpayers fund Social Security with every paycheck. That money goes into Social Security’s trust fund. There is a $2.9 trillion surplus today. Social Security is financially sound and very efficiently administered. By law, Social Security benefits are not a part of the federal budget, but Congress still tries to cut Social Security spending by making it hard for people to get their benefits. ...
