Founded by American Towman Magazine and B/A Products, the ride’s mission is to promote public awareness of the Move Over laws while honoring fallen first responders killed on the roadside.

The Llano City Council on Monday approved final financing to build a pro shop and maintenance building at the golf course, which includes a small mandated bump in taxes.
Last month, the council voted to approved a $250,000 from Llano National Bank to build a pro shop and maintenance building at the city’s golf course.
The body of a man pulled from the Llano River near Kingsland has been identified.
Jarod Lee Layton, 38, of Kingsland, was pulled from the river on May 27. At 4:19 p.m., a man knocked on the door of a residence in the 6700 block of River Oaks in Kingsland, and reported he had just pulled a deceased male from the Llano River.
Deputies and investigators responded and conducted an on-scene investigation that included speaking to several witnesses.
A 69-year old Llano County man was convicted on two counts of aggravated sexual assault with a child, and was sentenced to two life sentences.
Billy Rousch was found guilty by a Llano jury on the two counts. Judge Evan Stubbs sentenced Roush to two life sentences which were then “stacked,” so they must be served consecutively.
It may not have been the hottest rodeo on record, but it felt like it on Friday and Saturday night at the John L Kuykendall Arena. This was one time the fans came in handy for both participants and spectators. Another welcome relief was in the concession stand provided by Llano County 4-H, where tea and water were the beverages of choice for many, and shaved ice had consistent lines throughout both nights.

The Llano High School Class of 1968 held its 50-year reunion at the Dabbs Railroad Hotel last Saturday.

Larry Najar, 72, of Llano, Texas passed away on May 28, 2018. He was born to Manuel and Dora (Castillo) Najar on Feb. 12, 1946, in Llano.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He married the love of his life Peggy Childers on June 13, 1969. They created the perfect family of four when their two children, Shannon and Larry M.
Jerri Sue Murchison, the beloved daughter of Gordon and Gay Murchison, and the most special baby sister of Rhonda, Rick, Becky, Robin and Deana, left this life on Wednesday May 23, 2018 to be with her Lord. She resided in Georgetown, Colorado.
Jerri Sue was born on March 17, 1969 in Burnet.
Max Dale Alexander passed away at home on May 23, 2018 at the age of 85.
Max attended Texas Tech University and earned his teaching degree. His teaching career began in San Marcos and included many happy years teaching in Blanco and Burnet, before finally settling at Llano High School where he taught vocational education until his retirement.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge #242 in Llano for over 58 years, where he held numerous offices and positions within the Masonic organizations.
Harvey August Raschke Sr., 85, of Elgin, passed away May 26, 2018 in Austin. Harvey was born Aug. 25, 1932 in Paige, to Walter and Ella (Jenke) Raschke.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ella Raschke, and one brother, Edwin Raschke.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dorothy (Hitchcock) Raschke; son, Harvey Raschke Jr.
Roslyn Ruth McCullough, 69, of Llano, passed away on May 24, 2018. She was born on Jan. 22, 1949 in Bangkok Siam, Thailand to Richard Evan Fisher and Ruth Elizabeth (Engelman) Fisher. Both parents have preceded her death.
Roslyn has lived in Llano since 1981, having moved here from Horseshoe Bay.
Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my fear of Congress cutting Social Security benefits. Taxpayers fund Social Security with every paycheck. That money goes into Social Security’s trust fund. There is a $2.9 trillion surplus today. Social Security is financially sound and very efficiently administered.
By law, Social Security benefits are not a part of the federal budget, but Congress still tries to cut Social Security spending by making it hard for people to get their benefits.
