Lliving La Vida Llano
Clare Hoffman, a senior at Llano Christian Academy, gave a speech at the east pavilion of Badu Park on Thursday evening as part of her public speaking class. Her topic for the close to 20 that attended was making chocolate chip cookies, and she even brought samples for everyone to try after the presentation. She plans on graduating from high school a year early on August 3 after finishing dual credit classes this summer. Her mom, Sarah Hoffman, had this to say: “Clare is taking her dual credit courses with Central Texas College and has already completed the application to transfer to ACC. She will be working toward her Associate of Applied Science in American Sign Language Interpretation. Texas is currently experiencing a shortage of certified ASL interpreters, and she is looking forward to providing this service to the deaf community.”

In part, this is because we are experiencing more success in reducing the rate of death from other causes such as heart disease, while the rate of death from Alzheimer’s continues to increase.
