A Message from Llano County Veterans Service Officer
Experiencing the Death of a Veteran?
The death of anyone is a tragic occurrence for their loved ones. The death of a Veteran presents challenges that need to be prepared for in advance. The most important document a Veteran has is their one-page DD 214 Form. Veterans who served in WWII and separated from the service prior to January 1, 1950 will have a “Separation Document” Surviving spouses must have a copy of the DD 214 or the Separation Document at the time of the Veterans death to receive VA death benefits.
