Central Texas Electric Cooperative is aware of a recent attempt to scam local utility customers. On April 7, CTEC was contacted by a manager from a restaurant in our service territory, who reported a call from a person claiming to be with Central Texas Electric Cooperative. The caller demanded that a wire transfer needed to be made immediately for late utility payments, advising the business to make transfer payments at the strip center near Wal-Mart.
