This year marked a milestone moment in our life, our last Meet the Teacher night as parents. It
was the first of many lasts as our kids are moving closer and closer to graduation. Today will
mark the last time we will have kids below the high school level, and next year we will be
starting our oldest daughter’s Senior Year.
It is that time of the year. Summer vacation has come to an end. Students and teachers are returning to the classroom. Parents are again reminded how quickly their children grow up. Pre-K students begin to learn a routine that will be a large part of their lives for the next several years and college students begin the recognize that the rhythm of school and break will soon come to an end.
June Joys
“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.” (Philippians 4: 4-6)
June is a month to let go of anxieties as we come to the end of spring and the beginning of summer. It is a time to ponder God’s mysteries of life. It’s a time to let go a bit from rigid schedules and to be thankful to God in prayer and open to what God may wish to teach us in nature and the world around us.
This week before Easter is known, in the life of the church, as Holy Week. The days in which we remember the events of the last earthly week of Jesus. It is a solemn week as we remember on Thursday the last meal that Jesus had with his 12 disciples, those closest to him.
We are eager to continue the Lord's work this spring semester and kicked off the semester with some fun. Monday night, March 1st, we met with kids to hang out, catch up, eat chips & queso, & most importantly- make s'mores! Amongst the chips, queso, and s'mores- we asked the kids to write down a question they have about Jesus.
On January 21, 2020 the first known case of Covid-19 was diagnosed. February 22, 2020 it was announced as a global pandemic. On March 19, 2020 Governor Abbot announced a statewide shutdown. Happy Anniversary?

With yesterday being Ash Wednesday, the Mason County Ministerial Alliance will have a Lenten based devotion for our Shepherd’s Staff articles. Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent with a call to repentance and a call for self-reflection. I have been focusing this year on looking for joy and hope in all circumstances.
With an event like last week’s fire of Mason County Courthouse and so many other things trying to tear away at the fabric of community, I believe we should look to the Lord and his word to give us comfort, strength, and direction. In our day to day lives we are drawn or pushed closer to a need of a relationship with God and his healing, guidance, and hope.
In an article written by Andy Crouch for Christianity Today he stated, “there is no need for elaborate explanations to bring a dista ...
Pastor Peter Aguilar First United Methodist Church
Grace & peace in the name of the Risen Lord! Here are three reasons why I love serving as a pastor. First, I get to walk with people when they are closest to God and also when they are the furthest. Second, is that I take great joy when communities of faith work together to usher in God’s reign on earth as it is in heaven.
“How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity.” Psalm 133: 1
The above psalm verse of 3000 years ago reminds us of how “VERY” good it is when family members live “in unity” with one another. The psalmist is not only speaking of blood relatives, although doing our best to share unity within our families is a huge blessing.
