#name-changing Dear Gerry, The People’s Republic of Austin has replaced Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples Day. The purpose of this #name-changing is to honor the names and cultures of the American Indians present on the continents when Columbus arrived. Supposedly the American Indians then were peace-loving, at one with the environment, and free of bad social habits.
