The Cross Brand Ranchers have brands. They are used as a means of identification. When I find a strange bull in one of my pastures, the first thing I look for is a brand. That symbol, burnt into his hide, tells me which of my several neighbors to contact about the wandering animal. And my neighbors do the same thing when any of our cattle get the notion that "the grass is greener on the other side of the fence."
