I was shocked to discover 30 percent of my income last year was spent on insurance premiums and out-of-pocket medical costs. This for a family of two, one of which is receiving Medicare. Large deductibles on insurance policies preclude using insurance except for major medical events. Premiums are projected to keep rising dramatically. The present administration (promising “great healthcare at a low price for everyone”) has not come through on their promises.
