The Texas Department of Transportation recently awarded the city of Blanco an $895,781 project as part of its Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) for population areas with less than 200,000 residents. The grant, which requires city funding of $200,000, has been in the works since 2000, when the first “Wheels and Feet Task Force” was formed. After initial meetings, it was determined there was a lack of sidewalks for students who walk to school in Blanco.
