The coronavirus has officially arrived in Blanco County.
It was confirmed Monday afternoon that a female in her 60s was tested positive for the virus. A press release from the county stated the woman went through a drive-through testing site Saturday after having symptoms of the virus. She is in self-quarantine at home and the case is travel-related, the press release said.
Much has changed in just a week. The city, county and state governments have issued various proclamations to guide citizens and businesses in various matters. All three have asked gatherings to be of 10 or fewer people.
Many businesses have closed to public traffic or limited it. Some are doing business only by phone or through electronic means. Due to a state order, restaurants can now only offer to go or drive through service.
County Judge Brett Bray issued a directive Friday that allows in-county grocers and those who sell non-prepared food to give preference to shoppers who can show residency in the county. It also allows them to set quantity limits on items purchased. It had been reported that people from larger cities had been coming to smaller towns to by items, and items in large quantities, which limited purchases to residents.
Both the county and city issued a local state of disaster for a health emergency last Wednesday.
School will not be held in Blanco until at least April 6, while the University Interscholastic League called off all activities it governs through May 3.
