When Holiday lights start to shine, most start to think about Christmas, but for rodeo fans the first two weeks of December only mean one thing, Las Vegas!
This year marked the 30th year that Las Vegas hosted the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Cowboys and cowgirls from all over the US, Canada, Brazil and Australia compete all year in hopes of qualifying in the top 15 in the world to have a chance at 7.6 million dollars.
Blanco County residents have an opportunity to bid farewell to outgoing County Judge Bill Guthrie and Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Terry Carter on Dec. 22 at a reception slated for after the regular commissioners' court meeting.
After decades of service, both are retiring. Guthrie has been in public service for decades, first as a justice of the peace and then as county
judge.
JCVFD responded to a call on Sunday Dec. 7 around 2:45 pm and were directed to the home of Susan and David Hamm where they found the garage and attached workshop fully involved with fire and heavy smoke. Round Mountain VFD provided automatic aid and Blanco VFD was called for additional water supply support.
