The Blanco-Pedernales Groundwater District board meeting was called to order Thursday, June 21, 2018 by chair Jimmy Klepac. After the board read their minutes of May 17, 2018, the minutes were approved with one change. General Manager Ron Fiesler gave the financial repot that the only thing of note was the credit card bill that was a little larger than normal.

AUSTIN, Texas – The Lower Colorado River Authority will accept grant applications for community projects in LCRA’s wholesale electric or water service areas in July. Hill Country Memorial Hospice announces the upcoming meeting schedule for its Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support Group for caregivers of those affected by these conditions. The group will meet on Tues., July 3 from 2-3 p.m. in the second-floor conference room of the Brune Building at 808 Reuben St. in Fredericksburg. Facilitated by HCM social worker Brook Bodenhamer, the group will continue to meet on the first Tuesday of each month, including Aug.

William “Bill” Victor Casey, 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at his home in Cypress Mill, TX.  Bill was born March 9, 1949 in Austin, TX to Donald E. Lois F. Mooney, 107, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at LBJ Medical Center in Johnson City, Texas. Lois was born on April 22, 1911, in DeWitt, Iowa to Mary Jeanette Budinger Fuller and Harry Fuller. She was a former member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Johnson City and was a retired secretary for various businesses.

Almost anyone can canoe or kayak, and more Americans paddle than play soccer, according to Texas Parks and Wildlife. They recommend that if you want to see nature in a new way, get your paddle wet. Bring your canoe, kayak or boat (electric motors only) to the state park. It’s a $5 park entrance fee for a day pass for anyone 13 years and older; children 12 years and under are free.

The Capital Area Rural Transportation System is providing FREE RIDES July 2nd through July 6th on their Country Bus service. Anyone can ride this reservation-based service for FREE that week. The CARTS Country Bus is regional community-based transportation for the rural areas of Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Hays, Fayette, Lee, Travis and Williamson Counties.
