On Thursday, March 5th the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce hosted their Old West Casino Nite event at the Blanco County Show Barn. Pecan Street Brewing provided a delicious dinner, Scooter Pearce performed her magic as always, the silent auction was awesome and the Casino Knights provided a great gaming experience as always!
Shortly after midnight on February 6, 2015 , Sgt. Thomas Broyles of the Blanco County Sheriff's Office observed a man walking on US 281 near Odiorne Road just south of Johnson City. The man was not wearing any shoes. Sgt. Broyles stopped to check on the man, who was later identified as Theodore Stathos.
On February 20, 2015, The Blanco County Sheriff's Office arrested Ronald Moore for failing to register as a sex offender. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement notified the Texas Department of Public Safety that Moore, a sex offender registered in Florida, had notified them that he intended to visit Blanco County Texas.
Specifications for a proposed bridge were approved by Blanco County Commissioners Tuesday, March 10 during regular session. The measure passed by a 3-1 margin. Pct. 2 commissioner James Sultemeier voted against it after expressing reservations of the scope and price of the project. The area where the proposed bridge would be constructed is just north of the current road's path, which is in Precinct 4.
Mark your calendars for the Mexican Dinner at St. Ferdinand's Catholic Church on March 22. Makes me hungry just writing about it! The former Johnson City Red Hatters now Bluebonnet Ladies met at the Texas 290 Diner on Wednesday, March 4. Fourteen ladies enjoyed the good food and fine company. Johnson City Library: Tuesday, March 17th, Valley West Farm is presenting a program on preparing your Spring Garden with organic tips.
Make plans to join us on Sunday, March 22, for a scrumptious homemade Mexican dinner. Serving begins at 11am and continues until 2 pm or sold out. Donations for lunch will be accepted at the door. Menu includes cheese enchiladas, tamale, taco, rice, beans, tortilla, homemade salsa, dessert and a drink.
