The JCISD School Board met on October 12, 2015 for their regularly scheduled meeting with all members present.
House Bill 2610 has altered the way school districts tabulate required class time for Texas students by measuring the student's time in minutes instead of days. JCISD currently has scheduled class time that exceeds the required number of minutes which is 75,600 minutes per year and results in changes to the current calendar.
County Clerk, Laura Walla, reminds Voters that the Early Voting Period for the upcoming November 3, 2015 Special "Joint" Elections in Blanco County begins on Monday, October 19 and will run through Friday, October 30.
Registered Voters will vote FOR or AGAINST the seven (7) Texas Constitutional Amendments submitted by the 84th Legislative Session AND the one (1) Bond Proposition submitted by the Blanco County Emergency Services District #1 and #2.
The Friends of the Library resale shop — a service for low-income families in the community and a fund-raiser for the library — is ready to begin accepting your clothing donations. They CAN NOT accept furniture, large appliances, books or computers. In between is a gray area you can discuss with them on an item by item basis.
The Lady Eagles continue to sweep their opponents, defeating Junction and Utopia in three straight games each. The Lady Eagles traveled to Junction Friday and won the match 3 games to none. Johnson City won the first game 25-13, the second game 25-9 and the final game 25-16. Annamarie Capra had an awesome night serving finishing the night at 100%.

Hilda Schmidt was honored with a birthday party for her 99th birthday on October 11, 2015. The party was held at the Live Oak Medical Center with a large crowd of relatives and friends attending. Many thanks to all for making this a special day for Hilda.
Harold Norman Smith, of Johnson City, Texas passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the age of 83.
Harold was born on April 15, 1932 in Kentucky, Indiana. He proudly served in the United States Army, where he was awarded the Purple Heart for the Korean War.
Harold and his wife, Dorothy, were married 63 years ago and started their family of Gae, Jerry, Tammy, Gary, and Robin.
