Johnson City traveled to San Antonio to take on the Lady Beavers from Falls City last week and came home with a Bi District title. The Lady Eagles started slow but scored in every inning after the first frame and won by way of the ten run rule, 13-2. Emily Matjeka continued her dominance on the mound only allowing two runs, giving up five hits and striking out 6.
The Johnson City Volunteer Fire Department will hold its 16th annual fish fry fundraiser and dance on Saturday, May 14, at the Blanco County Fairgrounds in Johnson City. The event is usually held the first weekend in May, but was moved due to Mother’s Day.
The festivities begin at 5 p.m.
JC staff and students completed one of the most successful weeks of extracurricular competition in recent memory last week and the spring activities aren’t done yet.
Starting it off on Tuesday the Fighting Eagle Band earned their first UIL Sweepstakes Trophy by completing the hat-trick of Division 1 ratings in Marching, Concert and Sight-Reading Competition at the UIL Contest in Liberty Hill.

Our junior high tennis traveled to Llano on Wednesday, April 20th to compete in an after school dual against players from Llano and Faith Academy. Against some very talented privately trained tennis players, we managed to secure five wins against four losses.

The Hill Country Cattle Women work diligently each year to raise funds to award to scholarship recipients. These are awarded to students who attend a Texas college or university, and are at the Junior or Senior level.
The Woman’s Civic club met April 25th at the First United Methodist church activity center, April showers and Susan Hamm welcomed members. Our hostesses for the evening were Gaynel Conner, Cathy Heffington, Linda Bray, and Becky Crider, we were treated to a beautiful buffet of assorted sandwiches, salads and desserts.

On January 6, 2016, I began a 40 day fast because I needed to get God’s attention to help me with all the troubling issues I was facing.
On Saturday, May 21 the First Christian Curch will host a spaghetti supper from 5:00-7:00 pm. The meal (by donation) will be served in the exhibit hall at the Fair Grounds to raise funds for their upcoming trip to Zacatecas, Mexico.

Charles Jacob Weirich passed away in Austin, Texas on April 25, 2016 at St. David’s Medical Center after a courageous 36 day struggle in ICU. Charles was born on June 25, 1974 in Mc Allen, Texas.
Jake will join his father Ralph Noel Weirich, and grandparents Paul and Opal Weirich in heaven.
He is survived by his mother Bonnie Edwards, step father Bob Edwards, sister Jennifer Gentile, brother-in-law Artie Gentile, nephews Evan and AJ Gentile, sib ...
Because I Didn't Have An Apple
The other day I came across a six-inch by eight-inch board. Glued to it and coated over with varnish is a painting of a ship foundering in high seas. I remembered that it had been given to me by a third grade girl in Veracruz, Mexico.
Steve and Susan Hill had family from Florida visit last week. Steve's sister Shannon, niece Tracy, and great-niece Bailey visited attractions in the area. It was their first time to Texas and it had also been 14 years since they had seen each other. They all decided they loved Texas and wouldn't wait so long to visit next time.

The following Sunday, childhood friends and family, Maggie Gastring Wilke, Marsha Hobbs Andrews, and Susan Hobbs Hill met for their second annual wildflower tour.
For the 9th year in a row, the JC FFA Wildlife team placed in the top ten at the State Wildlife CDE (Career Development Event).
The 2016 contest was held at the Richards Ranch near Jacksboro on April 26.
Lane Evers, Grey Grote, Darren Sultemeier, and Colby Turner placed 3rd out of the 49 teams which had qualified from the 10 FFA Areas in Texas.
Pedernales Electric Cooperative members now have a new way to make the place they love to live even better: the PEC Power of Change program. Those who opt in will have their electric bills rounded up to the nearest dollar, and the combined funds will be awarded throughout the year to eligible area non-profit organizations and qualified members in need.
In Marble Falls today, PEC Board President James Oakley became the first enrollee.
Ayden Hubenak would not be denied a trip to Austin to compete at the State Track and Field Meet, Ayden cleared 12'9'' and won the Region IV Pole Vault. Ayden will compete against 8 other vaulters from across the state Saturday May 14th in Austin at the University of Texas' Mike Meyers Track Complex.
