The Johnson City Eagles traveled to Leakey Friday night to officially start the Chris Cloninger era as the new head Football coach. The Eagles’ high octane offense did well scoring several times, but was not hitting on all cylinders yet. Coach Cloninger was pleased with the Eagles’ effort and hustle, but knows there is still much work to be done.
The City Council held a special meeting on Thursday, August 11 to discuss the general and system budgets with special focus on funding for Old Annex Office Solutions, the Johnson City visitor’s center and police department. After opening the meeting the Council quickly went into executive session to discuss granting funds to Deborah Burkhard for the Old County Annex project.

By July 4 this year much of the field corn in southern Minnesota was up 5 to 6 feet. Now many of the fields are pollinating so we see the tassels and silks, and it’s also time for the first locally grown sweet corn to be available. In Minnesota, corn is an annual, usually planted in May.
