Over about a three-year period that ended in October, a man who at first owned two cats ended up with 95, many of them feral.
That incident is just one recent account of what the BCCC routinely deals with as its scant few volunteer members try to educate the public about the importance of spaying or neutering cats.

Admittedly, during the height of election fever I got carried away, posting clever memes that made fun of the candidate I wanted to lose. After the election I got particularly bugged by those misguided college babies protesting the election results and posted quite a bit of hilarity.
John D. “Dan” Lengefeld, LTC Ret. age 74, resident of Johnson City, TX died Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Knopp Assisted Living in Fredericksburg, TX after a protracted battle with Alzheimer’s Dementia.
He was born December 27, 1941 in Smithville, TX to John R. and Ima (Wolf) Lengefeld and grew up in San Antonio, TX.
Russell Anthony LeBlanc, 66, passed away Friday, November 25th, 2016. He was born on July 25, 1950 in Cut Off, LaFourche, Louisiana to Louis Anthony LeBlanc and Annie Marie Punch LeBlanc.
Russell very much loved his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, horseshoe crafts, playing cards, gardening, cooking, music (rock and roll and country) and dancing.
The Lady Eagle Seventh and Eighth grade girls took on Comfort for their first home basketball game of the season Monday evening. The Seventh were defeated 18-36 while the Eighth graders were victorious 25-18.
The Lady Eagle Seventh graders battled hard against Comfort. The game was close after the first quarter, with Comfort leading 10-6.
For forty-one years the volunteer members of Blanco County Community Choir have been bringing outstanding Christmas music to the communities in Blanco County. This year the concerts will be held in Johnson City at Community Church of the Hills on Friday, December 2 at 8:00 and in Blanco at the Baptist Church on Sunday, December 4 at 7:00.
The choir members range in age from Middle School to senior citizens.
In May 2016 I found myself the participant in an unexpected chain of events that led to me being the editor of the Johnson City Record Courier. I quietly took my place behind the desk on Main Street and laid out my first issue that came out on May 26.
Johnson City Future Farmers of America member, Cheyenne Henderson won the FFA Creed speaking contest in the Greenhand division at the Area VII Contest in Blanco on November 16.
She will compete in the preliminaries for the State contest in Huntsville on December 2 and hopefully the finals on December 3.
This event is just one way to boost self-confidence, earn recognition, and develop powerful, organized and professional communication skills.
The Johnson City Lady Eagles defeated a talented team from Medina last week to even their season record to 1-1. This was a great win for the girls and it was Coach Katy Taylor's first at Johnson City. Coach Taylor was very pleased with the ladies’ effort on offense and defense and how well they executed on both ends of the court.
Coach Lewis Jenkins opened the 2016-17 basketball season Monday night against a very talented Lake Travis Junior Varsity squad. The Cavaliers are a 6A Powerhouse in all sports including basketball. The Eagles return many of its players from last year’s playoff team and are looking at making another playoff run this season.
The Varsity Eagles played with Lake Travis in the first half, trailing 13-15 after one period and were only down by eight at the half 22-30.

A couple of hundred of your friends and neighbors filled the Activity Building of the First United Methodist Church again this year for the annual Free Community Thanksgiving Potluck Feast.
