At the City Council’s March meeting, plans moved forward on a proposed subdivision of high end garden homes in Johnson City. The Council also approved a plan to repair the sidewalk and drainage on the corner of the Courthouse Square. At the regular meeting on March 6, 2017 the Johnson City School Board opened communication between them and their Blanco County Appraisal (BCAD) Board Trustees. They also conducted regular business and appointed election judges for the May 6 election. BCAD Representatives Janice Fox of the Blanco County Appraisal District Board spoke to the board about the recent developments at the Appraisal District. The Hill Country Memorial Wellness Center announces the spring schedule for its “Be Well with Diabetes” seminars for individuals with diabetes and their caregivers. “If you have diabetes, taking extra care of yourself is so important,” said Thornton. “Educating yourself through these seminars and managing your specific health needs are your best defenses.” On Thurs., March 16 from 9 a.m.

Congratulations to Michael LeVitt, Highland Arts Gallery’s March-Artist of the Month. Michael’s works are a reflection of all that he sees and how he feels they relate to the environment in which he finds them. From the ‘quick-to-perish’ flower, to the enduring rocks and trees, all of God’s works have a message that he tries to capture. Michael graduated from Purdue University and later spent time as a pilot in the Marine Corp.

A FRIEND OF MINE WAS ARRESTED IN ENGLAND AND FOUND GUILTY for a heinous crime. Was it robbery? Assault? Murder? Nope. None of those. Mike Stockwell got busted, along with his compatriot Michael Overd, for speaking the truth! I met Stockwell back in 2008 when I was leading a team for a ministry that taught normal Christians how to share their faith by handing out Gospel tracts, having personal conversations and by street preaching.

What is the wind? You can’t see it, but you can feel it. Does it have any weight? What is the wind made of, and what makes wind move? Have you ever wondered about these things? Thursday March 16, the Johnson City Library’s special spring break program is not only going to answer these questions, but prove them with experiments and activities.

Winter has come and gone and spring is here and with that note high school sports are in full swing. Five spring sports are under way now with each getting close to the beginning of district play. Baseball With swinging in mind baseball will be our first spring sport to be highlighted.

Cactus Companies is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the contract to construct The Margaret Bamberger Research and Education Center in Johnson City. Cactus Companies was one of four companies bidding for the contract. “We’re extremely honored and pleased that we have an opportunity to create a state-of-the-art research and education center in the Texas Hill Country,” said Cactus Companies President, Grant Dean.

Eagles Tennis continues a tough season. They have taken to the court for three tennis events with the district meet in under a month. Battlin’ Billie Invitational Our Johnson City High School Eagle Tennis traveled to Fredericksburg on February 16 to compete in the 2017 Battlin’ Billie Invitational against nine area school loaded with serious tennis talent. Makayla Preston competed and was eliminated by Hondo and Kerrville Tivy in girls singles.

agles opened district play Tuesday night with a huge victory over the Lady Vikings from Lago Vista. The Eagles traveled to Lago Vista and wasted no time in jumping out to a first inning 2-0 lead. Emily Matjeka tripled in the two runs. Lago Vista answered scoring one run in the bottom of the opening inning.
