Blanco County Commissioners moved forward with sending an official letter to City of Blanco requesting funds; drafting a lease for the Old Blanco County Jail; and several construction projects around the county in their March 28 Court Session.

In the previous Commissioners Court the motion to write an official letter to the City of Blanco requesting the additional dispatch center funds owed, was approved.
At the March meeting of The Blanco County Pioneers Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, the winners of its annual essay contest were recognized. First place honors went to Blanco Elementary School student Calla Nelson. Johnny Slawinski of Johnson City Elementary School placed second. Fourth grade students had been invited to submit essays about Texas legend Sam Houston.

They have the volunteer to conduct bingo games at the Housing Authority — now they still need to find a Mexican train dominoes game leader for the nursing home.
“OH NO! NOT ONE OF THOSE GUYS!” You may have said something similar when stumbling across a loud-mouthed preacher standing on a box outside a sporting event, or in a park with a megaphone or just wandering the street shouting the traditional “Repent! For the kingdom of God is near!”
Perhaps you’ve heard about the John 3:16 guy who wore a fright wig and held up that very Scripture verse on a placard at football games.
When I was very young I slept in a basement bedroom shared by my oldest brother, Boyd. He often worked after school and on Saturdays helping my father who made his living as a building contractor. I think I was just a little envious of Boyd because he always had some spending money.
Across the road from where we lived was the “White Spot.” The White Spot was not unlike a Dairy Queen.
The Inaugural Track Meet at Eagle Stadium was an amazing event with eight schools from around the hill country competing on a windy Thursday afternoon.
Varsity Boys
The Varsity boys had a great meet scoring 53 points and finishing in 6th place.
Cole Cowsert placed 2nd in the 3200. Logan Ledger placed 1st in the 800.
If you were planning to attend the 6th Annual Evening of Fine Arts at LBJHS this Thursday you will have to wait – due to a scheduling conflict the event has been postponed.
Student artists, musicians and actors who also represent LBJHS in Athletics will be participating this week in the Llano Invitational Track Meet in their final warm-up prior to the District 25-3A Meet on April 12th & 13th.
