A suspected drunk driver struck the pole to a powerline after midnight, Saturday morning causing power to go out in part of Johnson City. On Saturday morning at approximately 12:30 a.m. Johnson City Officer Josh Bucy responded to a single motor vehicle traffic crash located in the 400 block of Ranchview in Johnson City.
Commissioners made the first preparations for the next round of budget talks. at their meeting on April 11. They also discussed a new Computer Aided Dispatch System for the Sheriff’s Department. General Business Commissioners approved the previous meeting’s minutes, April’s payroll and bills. Commissioner Paul Granberg of Precinct 4 was re-appointed to the Capital Area Rural Transportation System for another two-year term.
Kids’ Lunch Club returns this summer When school is out this summer, the Kids’ Lunch Club will be back to provide free nutritious lunches for children. Continuing the tradition started in 2004, the Johnson City FFA wildlife team qualified for the State contest which will be held near Childress on April 25. The team of Grey Grote, Brett Sultemeier, Darren Sultemeier, and Colby Turner placed 1st in the Area contest at the Angelo State University Campus in San Angelo on April 11th.
For the third year in a row Johnson City’s lone golfer, Zackhery Hernandez has qualified to advance to the Regionals Golf Competition. Zackhery competed in the 3A District 25 Golf Tournament on Monday, April 10 and Tuesday, April 11. Blanco, Comfort, Georgetown Gateway, Ingram Moore, Johnson City and Lago Vista were represented in the District meet.
