The Kids’ Lunch Club, which provides hot, nutritious lunches for children three days a week through June and July, has prepared its last meals for the year, and wraps up the summer with a pool party Friday night for kids and cooks and their families.
The club started years ago as a means of maintaining nutrition among low-income children during the summers, when school — and school lunches — are out.
Emergency “File of Life” kits are now circulating around Johnson City from the Blanco County Rotary Club.
“File of Life” is a nationwide program meant to give emergency responders access to pertinent information in case of a medical emergency.
The kits include the “File of Life” form, “Do Not Resuscitate” order and a “File for Life” sticker and are housed in a freezer bag.

Lucky Leaf 4-H officers went to an officer training event at the VFW Hall in Wimberly on June 19, 2018 the program was presented by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Agents in Blanco, Caldwell and Hays counties.
The club officers from neighboring counties were present at this event. We learned the roles of each officer and had fun doing it.
The 41st Annual Wilhelm and Elisa De Cloudt Schaeferkoeter Family Reunion, hosted by the Monroe Schaeferkoeter family, will be held on Saturday, September 22, beginning at 11:00 a.m. The covered dish meal will begin around 12:30. It is with great sadness that the family of Lester Jacoby announces his sudden passing at his residence in Mountain Home, TX on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at the age of 73. Lester was born September 9, 1944 at home in Hye, Texas to Wesley and Mary (Schaefer) Jacoby. He carried his love of fishing and hunting with him throughout his life, and shared his passion with his kids and grandkids.
Lynn’s father called her his “little ray of sunshine” and that truly described Lynn. She loved painting and drawing, photography, decorating and any sort of crafts and creating. She was dedicated mother to her children and truly perfected herself as Grandmother, spending many hours watching and listening to recitals, baseball, softball and basketball games.
The Johnson City Library is pleased to announce having won a grant from Tangled Bank Studios, LLC. The grant is outreach for the IMAX movie Backyard Wilderness. At the core of the grant is a beautiful interactive popup exhibit designed for use in libraries. In an engaging and visual way, it allows children to go on a scavenger hunt right in the library, and to absorb the basics of scientific exploration and observation.
