Blanco County Commissioners met on Tuesday Aug. 14 for a regular meeting. They reviewed proposed changes to the 2018/2019 budget, renewed contracts for another fiscal year and saw to new business.

The County Judge was authorized by commissioners to sign a Non-Financial Child Welfare Services Contract with the Department of Family and Protective Services.
Before opening their regular meeting, the Johnson City School Board held a Public Hearing for the 2018-2019 proposed budget and tax rate.

Assistant Superintendent Erin Fasel presented the tax rate for the upcoming year. The total tax rate was proposed at $1.1339. Maintenance and Operations tax was proposed at a rate of $1.04 and Interest and Sinking tax was proposed at $0.0939.

The evening began with a reception featuring green tomato gazpacho topped with blue crab, a light, cold soup elegantly served in tall glasses. The appetizer course featured shrimp served with escobeche, a vinegar-based sauce that paired perfectly with the sweet, poached shrimp.
