Construction of the new Blanco County Community Resource Center in Johnson City continues with a revised opening date of January 2020. Community Resource Centers of Texas Inc. and their partner organizations continue to work alongside local, regional, and state agencies to provide social services to community members. The Blanco County Commissioners Court was called to order at 9 a.m. by Judge Brett Bray with all four commissioners: Tommy Weir, Emil Uecker, Chris Liesmann, and Paul Granberg present. AUSTIN — Voters rejected only one of 10 proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution in the statewide election held Nov. 5. The House and Senate, in the 86th Regular Session of the Texas Legislature that ended in May, approved the propositions for voters to decide. Hye native Porter Watson was honored by the Blanco County Commissioners Court Tuesday for his dedication and service to his country, his family, and his community. 95-year-old Watson served in the U.S. Army Infantry June 27, 1944 through April 19, 1946, mainly in the Pacific theater on the Philippine islands of Leyte, Panay, and Mindanao, plus a few months after wartime in Korea.
Homeschool Day at the Science Mill The Science Mill’s monthly Homeschool Day focuses on careers in Earth Science. Students will examine fossils and explore convection currents in a hands-on demo. The November 6 issue of the paper noted continuing development of the new Community Resource Center, boasting “free” space and services to be provided by federal, state and non-profit agencies at the new facility. I want to remind journalists and readers that any services provided by federal and state agencies are never “free,” and that those provided by non-profit agencies are even more costly to taxpayers because they consume public resources without paying their dues (taxes).
