Origins
The Blanco County News recently interviewed Blanco County Community Choir (BCCC) Co-Director Vicky Pautz. Pautz told the BCN that in 1975 Beverly Voron of Johnson City created the BCCC as a community choir group that would bring the voices of Blanco and Johnson City together.
Vicky and her husband Dr. Doug Pautz moved to Blanco in 1980, and Vicky began singing with the BCCC.
It was a record crowd at the First United Methodist Church this year, with more than 200 diners served at the Free Community Thanksgiving Potluck Feast, including a couple dozen who had take-out meals delivered.
Food came from diners themselves, plus the East Main Grill, Fat Boy’s Burgers, Pecan Street Brewing, Ronnie’s Barbecue, and Lewis Eckenrode’s turkey-frying and -smoking production line.

The members of the Johnson City 1st United Methodist Church invite you to their annual gift to the community, the music, light and live action Living Nativity Christmas Pageant.
More than 300 guests celebrated science and STEM education at the Science Mill’s fifth annual benefit, an elegant, fun-filled evening of great food and drink, music and dancing, a fabulous art auction and more on November 26, 2019.
The entire museum—housed in a beautifully adapted 1880s mill with 50+ high-tech, high-touch exhibits—was open for exploration and was transformed into two vibrant music venues for the evening.
Community Resource Centers of Texas Inc. and their partner organizations continue to work alongside local, regional, and state agencies to provide social services to community members. Types of services the CRC will connect people with include: mental health, employment, educational, food pantry, transportation, affordable housing, family crisis, health care, older adults, and children services.

AUSTIN— Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar on Nov. 25 announced the transfer of $3.33 billion into the State Highway Fund and into the Economic Stabilization Fund, commonly known as the Rainy Day Fund.
Each fund received more than $1.66 billion, or 50% of the total transfer. The transfer amounts are based on crude oil and natural gas production tax revenues in excess of 1987 collections.

District 13-3A D2 coaches released their selections for All-District honors following the Comfort Bobcats exit from the UIL State Football playoffs in the Regional Quarterfinal round. The Johnson City Eagles garnered two superlative honors and six 1st Team picks for their performance which was highlighted by a 31-14 victory over rival Blanco in the regular season finale to secure the third-place playoff position.
The Lady Eagles Varsity fell to the Florence Lady Buffaloes in their District 25-3A opener last Tuesday at Florence.
The Buffs charged out to a 10-4 lead in the first period which stretched to 25-6 at the half. The Lady Eagles won the second half scoring in double figures in the final two stanzas, but were unable to overcome the first-half deficit and fell by a final score of 50-35.

Master Gardener
Master Gardeners of Blanco County are providing a Master Gardener class in the coming year. Starting on January 14 weekly until graduation on March 24, 2020. There are 16 classes in 11 weeks.
We are looking for individuals that like to garden and learn scientific horticulture techniques from AgriLife Extension Service in cooperation with Texas A&M University System.
The Albert Community Club will meet at 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2019, in the Williams Creek School Building at 5501 S. Ranch Road 1623, Albert, TX for their annual Christmas social.
Guests are invited and new members are always welcome. There will be no business meeting.

Irma Nell Simpson passed away on November 27, 2019 in Johnson City, surrounded by children and grandchildren.
A life-long resident of Blanco County, Irma Nell was born in Johnson City on February 27, 1926 to Rob and Ruth Crider who owned the WR Crider and Co store on Main Street. She was born across the street from the store in the house belonging to her Great Aunt Faye Withers, which once stood where the city park is now located.

Dolly Joyce (Eubanks) Bingham, formerly of Johnston City, died on November 22, 2019 in Conroe, Texas. She was born in San Antonio on January 22, 1931 to Sam Houston Eubanks and Fannie (Kerby) Eubanks. She married Sterling Bingham on July 5, 1952. They were married for 62 years until his death in 2014.
Dolly received a secretarial degree from Durham’s Business College and spent most of her career working as a Scientific Document Specialist for GE’s Space Division at NASA.
Dardanella Joyce Gipson, 95, of Johnson City, TX passed away peacefully the evening of Monday, November 25, 2019 in Johnson City, TX.
Mrs. Gipson was born April 25, 1924 in Front Royal, VA to Elvin and Cassie (Hamlet) White. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maurice “Hoot” Gipson; and two brothers, Bill & Pete White.
