Blanco County native Billie Jean (Beck) Kutzer grew up hearing stories of the Hill Country as told to her by her great grandmother Linda Wuest and grandmother Elsie Beck. They and many other families with roots in the Texas Hill Country during the 1800s have similar stories.

President David O’Bannon called the August 17 regular meeting of the ESD 1 to order at 7 p.m. via teleconference. All members were present, and a Quorum was established. There were no citizens comments.
The minutes from the July 20, 2020 Regular meeting were approved as written with motion from Vice President Brandt Raeburn.
The Blanco County Wild Game Dinner has been canceled for 2020, the sale committee announced Saturday.
“At this time the sale committee has made the decision not to hold the event this year,” the Facebook announcement read. “We want to say a huge thank you to each and everyone of you for your support of our event.”
Though the annual event has been canceled for this year, fundraising efforts will continue.
Students across Texas returned to campuses last week as schools and universities scrambled to put into place new lesson plans that best accommodate a pandemic.

Eagle Head Coach David T Sine was likely more excited about the 0-0 stalemate in the Eagles first scrimmage than he would have been in past seasons. Besides the fact that the Eagle defense effectively clamped down on the visiting 3A Stockdale Brahmas on Saturday, Sine was just glad to finally see players on the field and fans in the stands.

As if things weren’t hard enough for Texas’s small businesses, news comes that the Trump administration plans to claw back a chunk of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funds legitimate businesses have used as a lifeline to keep their employees on the payroll.
When Congress passed PPP, the legislation made it clear that these loans would ultimately be forgiven if businesses used them for approved purposes, mostly payroll.
