A shooting in Blanco County on Saturday night left an Army veteran and former Blanco County volunteer firefighter dead and his family in mourning.  Donald Boumans, 25, was allegedly shot and killed by his step-father, James “Jim” Mayer Harris Jr., 63, said Chief Deputy Neal Leonard with the Blanco County Sheriff’s Office Monday. “The case is still being investigated,” Leonard said.
Blanco County is closing in on 1,000 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began last year, and almost 100 of those have occurred just in the past few weeks, a county health official said on Tuesday. “We’re definitely seeing a surge of COVID-19,” said Blanco County EMS Chief Ben Oakley, who is the county’s health authority.
JCISD Trustees held a Special Meeting on August 23, 2021, and President Matt McKennis called the Public Hearing to order at 6:00 pm. There were no Public Comments, therefore the Public Hearing ended, and Open Session began at 6:06 pm. CFO Scott Berry addressed the Board, “The proposed Budget has a Maintenance and Operations rate (M&O) of 0.872 with no increase to Debt Service (I&S) at the rate of 0.1939, in accordance with the more aggressive repayment rate included in the bond passage.
The LBJ High School Eagles edged over the Florence Buffaloes Friday night with a final score of 14,13. The Eagles will host the Ingram Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at Eagle Field. The evening will also host Lil’ Eagle Night. The LBJ junior varsity will travel to Ingram to kick-off at 5 p.m.
LBJ High School and Johnson City ISD are welcoming alumni and community members alike to join in the celebration of Homecoming 2021. Each individual campus will host a series of Spirit Days for students which will be announced next week. The annual Community Pep Rally will be held at Eagle Field on Wednesday, Sept.
Friday night's season opener on the road at Florence had Eagle fans on the edge of their seats until the final horn sounded with Johnson City edging the Buffaloes 14-13. The first two quarters were scoreless with the two teams trading possessions and turnovers - seemingly unsettled by the 30-minute lightning delay that pushed the opening kick-off and the start of the new season to after 8:00pm.
As the only 3A school in a bracket full of 4A-5A competition last weekend the Johnson City Lady Eagles dispelled the myth that “A’s = W’s” - wins, that is. After polishing off the 4A Canyon Lake Lady Eagles on Tuesday JC rattled off a streak of six consecutive victories to win the Championship as hosts of their first invitational tournament in recent history. Head Coach Heather Wilson and the Lady Eagles capped a perfect week by reaching a career milestone on Saturday - Wilson’s 200th victory. Wilson - who is starting her eighth year at the helm of the Johnson City Volleyball program - has earned all of her wins with the Lady Eagles.
The LBJ High School Running Eagles made the short drive to Dripping Springs to compete against a line-up of seventeen 4A-6A-Private teams at a 4 Kilometer distance. Texas high school runners compete at the District, Regional and State contests in the 2 mile for girls and 3 mile for boys; invitational meet distances are at the discretion of the host school. Freshmen paced the JC teams with Jackie Earley finishing 26th with a time of 16:18.41 and Antonio Perez leading the boys with a 15:16. ...
