Texas topped 1 million COVID-19 cases as some counties reimposed restrictions that had been loosened after this summer’s spike. Particularly hard-hit El Paso extended its temporary shutdown of nonessential businesses, but the Texas Eighth Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 Friday to block County Judge Ricardo Samaniego’s order. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, Gov.
I’ve always been a shovel kind of guy as opposed to a mustard seed guy.  Yes, mountains can be moved, but somebody has to get off his duff, grab a shovel and start digging.  So, why is it, you might ask, that I believe in the authenticity of livestock faith-healers.  I have no firsthand knowledge of the practice.  However, I’m convinced of the sincerity and honesty of the ones who do, some of whom I’ve known many, many years.  Then, the most compelling factor is when humans are tak ...

If broadband is a lifeline, then rural Texas is in danger of dying. In its first report to the Texas Legislature, the Governor’s Broadband Development Council called for the creation of a state broadband plan and a state broadband office. AUSTIN— Gas pumps across Texas must prominently display the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) consumer information stickers by Dec. 1, 2020. The stickers have a Texas shape and include information about the amount of state and federal taxes charged for every gallon of fuel sold, as well as a telephone number and a QR code that consumers can use to file a complaint with TDLR regarding the quality or quantity of fuel that was sold.
The Postscript
This has been a year that defies explanations. I spoke with my parents a week or so ago. We have used Zoom and other types of video to communicate but, more often than not, I just call up my dad, he puts me on speaker, and we chat as we always have. My parents were about to go skiing. They live in the north, but they don’t live on the North Pole.
Two of my favorite native animals are cottontails and jackrabbits. As a kid in West Texas, I could always find at least one or the other in a five-minute walk into the pasture. They are nowhere near that populous now. Cottontails are rabbits, but despite the name, jackrabbits are not. Jackrabbits are hares.
By Chris Cobler For most Texans, Election Day is a misnomer. More Texans voted early this year than cast their ballots during all of the 2016 general election. Many more voted early than went to the polls on Election Day. A record 9.7 million people, or 57% of registered voters, completed their civic duty during the extended early voting period of Oct.
