Galveston resident suffers from heart attack while prospecting, later dies
Galveston resident Bob Johnson suffered a massive heart attack Saturday morning while gold prospecting with friends and family on the Llano River. Bob was a member of the Round Rock Chapter of the Gold Prospectors Association of America, which was in Llano for one of its twice-annual campout and prospecting trips when the incident occurred. Fellow prospectors called 911, and the City of Llano Police Department, Llano County Sheriff’s Office, Llano Volunteer Fire Department and EMS responded quickly. Star Flight was dispatched from Travis County, while local agencies administered first aid. He was then airlifted to Travis County where he was pronounced dead of massive heart failure. Friends, family and RRGPAA members would like to thank Llano agencies for the quick and professional response and care for Mr. Johnson.
