LISD Multi-Purpose Facility is officially open
Indoor football has arrived on the Llano High campus. “It’s a site to behold,” said Superintendent Mac Edwards.
It is a beauty. What? Well, no, it’s not exactly for football games, but practice in bad weather. The other sports can use it, too, plus the band, drill and dance teams, and maybe one-act players who are rehearsing “Guts on the Gridiron.”

The Llano City Council handled mostly routine items at Monday’s meeting.
The council discussed at length whether to allow a manufactured home that is 25 years old at 802 W. Houston Street by use of a specific use permit. The property is in a SF4 (single family 4) district.
At issue is an ordinance which limits the placement of manufactured homes in most circumstances.
Several Veterans Day celebrations are set for Llano County this week. They are as follows:
Friday at 10 a.m.
Llano Elementary School will hold a Veterans Day tribute titled “Our History, Our Legacy” at the Llano High School Auditorium.
The tribute will include music performed by Llano Elementary students and oral histories of local veterans.

Galveston resident Bob Johnson suffered a massive heart attack Saturday morning while gold prospecting with friends and family on the Llano River. Bob was a member of the Round Rock Chapter of the Gold Prospectors Association of America, which was in Llano for one of its twice-annual campout and prospecting trips when the incident occurred.

The Llano Freshmen and Junior Varsity teams battled with the Bandera Bulldogs this past Thursday in their final District games of the season with both teams coming out victorious to up their District records to 3-1, respectively.
The Llano Freshmen won 35-6 at home, while the Junior Varsity won at Bandera, 27-12.

Orien Vondalph “Von” Swartzwelder, 85, of Bluffton, passed away into the peaceful arms of Jesus at his home, on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017.
He was born March 31, 1932, at his family home in Southhampton Township, Chaneysville, Pennsylvania. He was the first son to the late Floyd V. Swartzwelder and his wife Mary (Beck).
Clytie Marie Hagemann nee Heyen of Llano passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at the age of 81 years.
Clytie Marie Heyen was born on Sept. 19, 1936 in Llano, to Wilburn G. and Alice Ray Heyen.
Clytie Hagemann is survived by three sons: David and Susan Hagemann of Mountain City, Barry and Gail Hagemann of Dripping Springs and Darrell and Cheryl Hagemann of Leander; nine grandchildren: Michael and Katie Hagemann, Heidi Hagemann, Brandt and Jessica Blake, Hunter Hagemann, McKena and Bryan Strobe ...
Mary Dell Wootan passed from this earth, Nov. 2, 2017. She was 89 years old.
Mary was born in Llano County, Texas, near Valley Springs on Aug. 1, 1928. Her parents were Nealy and Elzie Wright. Mary had two brothers, Dayton and Carl Wright. All of whom have preceded her in death, along with daughter Linda Cheryl Buchanan and granddaughter Emily Buchanan.
Mary spent her childhood in the Hill Country and on June 18, 1947 she married A.C.
